I feed a small amount of compound in my out of parlour feeders then the rest is straights,I only buy calf starter ration for use till weaning, the rest get straights.

I'm on a special price with my compounder,I know the biggest buying group around can't match the price, purely because I'm one on the doorstep of the compounder and I always deal with the top man,a rep can never give you the true "best price" :)
I'm not doubting you eulb but how do you know the group price ?

Minette Batters, "DEPUTY PRESIDENT" of the NFU has called for the removal of farming subsidies as they are a waste of public money, she has literally thrown UK farming businesses under the bus and started negotiations with the UK government from a defeatist position accepted that "these payments would all but disappear once Britain left the EU"

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE from one of our farming leaders she should be backing us from the outset in these negotiations and driving a good deal for farmers so ensure their survival in the difficult years ahead,

I have already phoned the NFU to issue a complaint and ask for her removal, I STRONGLY urge fellow farmers on this forum to join me in this and pickup the phone to make a formal complaint about "Minette Batters" or by email, WE MUST NOT LET THIS GO UNCHECKED!!!!!!!

All farmers please do this we need to stick together and not let our leaders forget about us!!!

Would you not be better to go and live in a council house and draw the dole and leave the rest of us in peace to farm

Wasnt sure where to stick the following but didnt fancy starting another thread on it either so here goes...

Parlour is getting old and electrics starting to fail but mostly with the feed system - motors, cards, wiring etc. We already have OOPFs that just need a bit of tarting up so my plan was to get these working again and rather than keep mending the parlour system just rip it out and replace with batch feeders.

Anyone have any idea on price for the feed system?

We paid £200 a point for Collinson equity feeders. The feeders themselves were £60 each, it's all the other bits that add up.

I sold all my oopf's so ended up pretty much break even cost wise.

For me I like to keep it simple. 6kg flat rate most of the year. My high yielders have all the grass they want to eat. I want high yielders eating lots of forage not just being grain burners.

If the high yielders can't handle the 6kg grain and eat enough forage to sustain themselves they can go up the road.

Top yielders peaking over 60lt.

Really?
