Feeding moderate bought in cattle

Currently buying all kinds of cattle from the market. Currently feeding a 16% protein nut with straw and silage. What are other people feeding this kind of cattle? Im not interested in mixer wagons and that kind of stuff because I don’t have one. I’m taking about a feed that can be blown into a bin. Just growing the cattle on and turning them back over. Would you feed ad-lib or not? If not what portion size would you recommend?

Definitely not Ad-lib if you are just growing them and selling them again. Top quality silage and a kilo or two per day of a 16% nut. You don’t need the straw they can just eat the bedding if they want to. Weigh them every month and adjust the nut accordingly. We are currently feeding 1.5kg per day and averaging 1.1-1.3 kg of gain per day depending on the pen, that’s on native x stores. Where are you based? Berrystock feeds make fantastic feed and it’s much cheaper than a nut, it can’t be blown into a bin though.

Near Durham. I think they’re a bit too far away
