Going back to Laminitis, the dairy industries enemy is Sara the real cause of Laminitis. The cure is feeding enough quality alfalfa hay, not feeding uncured silage and being extremely vigilant keeping ration components free of toxins. I'am from the US and don't know how available alfalfa hay is in the UK. Twenty lb for Holsteins and Fifteen lb for Jerseys has produced optimum results.
We grow Lucerne for the 3crop thing had 4cuts off it each year so far, heifers love it cows not so much probably say if you put more than 5% in feeder they sort it out,if I had my way I would rip it up never ties in with silage cuts end up baling it,always get it dry ted it on tick over straight after iv mowed it then it doesn't knock the leaves off

So you'll keep using it then? Got some today to try it, so from what I can gather it's a table spoonful to 350l?

Yeah I don't see the major big deal with the "don't put too much in" we spray it on and Inbetween the feet in the parlour (hate footbaths) too much form in a footbath is far worse etc I'll keep on it now they've gone out soon see if it works well now

Tryed it for the first time last night came back from getting the cows in and the water turned from purple to brown colour is this normal? Did I not ad enough pp? Put in just over a teaspoon full for 150 litre bath.

Be sh!t of the feet won't it ? My mates a trimmer said he went to a farm somewhere they put to much form in the bath the flesh off the back of feet was peeling off, think this pp pretty harmless

If you must resort to Formalin, rate is critical not to exceed 20-1, less than a 3% solution will not kill DD. Seen good results at 20-1 three times per week, used every other day. Also had good results spraying clean feet with topicals for five days, then every third day twice per week there after with topical terramycin 343 (Pfyzer) one packet, per gallon of distilled or demineralized water. Alternated to prevent immunity using Lincomix soluble powder (Upjohn) one packet in 2 quarts of distilled or demineralized water, always spray from dew claws down. Wraped the worst ones with terramycin once a week until cured. Check with your Vet first, I don't know if these methods are legal in your area. The goal with DD is kill it back, and at the same time keep it contained with a persistent prevention program. Foot baths need to be well maintained or they will work against you. Best to bypass foot baths when not in use. After mixing, topicals only remain active for about eight hours.

Spoke with a Vet in the States that was recommending HOOF-TEC made by ZOETIS said to enhance the performance of copper sulfate, keeping it suspended and reduces usage by 40%. Said it was working if their protocol was followed to the letter. No personal experience with this product.

What's the best cure for white line disease? I've had a few quite bad recently and even after trimming it out they seem to take for ever to recover. Current procedure is to try to trim it out and give it a good wash before filling in with some copper foot paste and bandaging up for a few days, am I doing the right thing?

I've never been a fan of bandagingvon copper sulphate as will stop fresh tissue growth, only time I use it is to shrink interdigital growths. Are you getting pus to drain out when you follow where it's tracked up white line
