So, I have the opportunity to buy a 2014 828 with extremely low genuine hours for its age. I haven’t had Fendt before and am looking to hear what people’s user experiences are, is there anyone that has owned these tractors that haven’t had engine issues? Or is there a particular age which is better / worse than others?

I have spoken to 2 dealers and one says engine issue occur in more than 1/10 machines and another dealer said they are very prone to engines and to factor 30k down the line for a new one however try to get it re mapped to turn off add blue, egr and dpf will extend the life of it?

Any advise welcome

Thanks

At son's work, 10 year old one running well, 6 month old one in bits at dealer.
Check the Fendt dealer history for tractor.
Then remove all the extra stuff.

2014 would most likely be a SCR model , that era did not not have any engine issues I have 2 of them one with nearly 13,000 hours and had absolutely no issues , I’d recommend not tuning an 828 as it’s already at the top of its line , s4 has the engine issues

As above, have an s4, on 3rd engine. To be fair, manufacturer stood on with all of them. Dealer serviced. Be getting adblue and egr removed in winter.

I wouldn’t be looking to add power just get rid of any egr / add blue / dpf that may cause issues further down the line

Is there a way of telling if it’s an SCR or S4 model. I’ve always been John Deere before so don’t really no a lot about the Fendt?

I looked at one, was warned of them by a member of the parts dept and a trusted workshop technician due to engine issues 🫣

Bonnet shape is usually how i tell them apart,
Scr doesnt have the green outline round the headlights
