Float valve for water tank

What's the best float valve for a 10k litre water tank coming off 25mm mdpe.

Is just a normal traditional ball cock one OK? Some seem to be huge money and others about £10. Don't understand them
Have standard water trough ones in our big tanks seem to be fine, cost circa £10-15 from mole valley.

You can get low pressure (gravity fed trough) and high pressure ones for mains, but think that is just nozzle size inside the valve.

What is the feed?
Mains, gravity, pumped?
If pumped one of these is a good idea to prevent the pump constantly cutting in and out.

How quickly do you want the tank to fill? I would fit a 3/4 ballcock with an easily accessible isolator valve so you can vary the flow easily in case it takes all your water and leaves the house dry.

Standard brass ball valve on the one here ,,be warned though, anglian water did a spot inspection on this one and said it needed a 150x50 slot cutting in just above water line also they will require a non return valve below it on the line and if there's a stand alone tap anywhere near it ,that also needs a HU tap head with a DB pipe interuptor screwed onto it ,,,6 years this one has been here and only a month ago AW pounced on it and threatened to cut the supply of if it wasn't altered.

As quick as possible. It's for the sprayer water tank in a remote location

If it's to keep it full, rather than keeping a reserve in a rainwater tank, then a normal/cheap ballcock will do fine. I'm guessing your sprayer doesn't hold 10k litres, so it doesn't need to be that fast, surely? If you have half decent water pressure, if it's filling as soon as you take the first water out, it will give you 12-13k litres of spray water in a day. Is that enough, it would be for most?

For water regs you should cut an letterbox shaped outflow (so a loose float valve can't block it apparently) from the tank below the level of the inlet, and just an isolating tap or non-return valve on the inlet pipe isn't enough. See, I do listen to officious visiting inspectors.

or raise the intake to above the tank lip. It feels dreadful cutting tanks!
