Fodder beet?

What do people think of feeding fodder beet to cattle on grass and housed. How much feed value is in it, what amounts do you feed, what do you feed alongside it? Very vague question I know but I'm only looking for general information. Thanks

We feed some to cows and stores. Keeps energy levels up when silage is lacking in that department. Good feed. Feed whole no chopping for cattle. Obviously this is only part of the ration

Thanks for the reply, are the stores just on beet and silage then? Ours currently have barley and a small amount of pre-mixed blend, looking at a way to reduce costs during winter. Was just wondering if I could sub out barely while grazing

Beet is only really good for energy and a fill up. Growing stores would need high protein meal or soya or urea molasses like we use. You would need to limit growing stores as you would get too much fat and too little frame add more beet to the mix when the frame is fully grown
