One thing I forgot its got an early 4000 engine in itRev counter ran from back of dynamo on a worm drive on later 4cyl engines drive was taken from camshaft under eng oil filter.
Sorry, but don’t believe everything you read. All the 600 range including the 4100 were fitted with alternators from new. Google images of 4100. They’re all fitted with alternators. It was one of the new selling features of the new range.4100 had dynamo cnh parts don't list alternator for this, 4110 alternator listed.
Thank youMy 4600 has alternator, drive for rev counter comes off the cam under oil filter.
I had seen some wheels on FB but after finding them discovered they were in limerick Ireland. Theres a pair of 6 stud 14.9 28 on ebay (there up in Caernarfon at Gwynedd farm machinery) also a pair of 14.9 30 fordson major wheels too. but I think it will look better on 13.6 r 36 wheels. They do crop up quite often on eBay and FB market place.
Been busy so only just got back on here, i will concede you are right, strange that i worked for main dealer for 30+ yrs but i never remember going on a training course or even seeing a 4100, like the 5100 only ever see one.Sorry, but don’t believe everything you read. 4000 would have dynamo, how old is your4000 engine spin on filter or cartridge typeBut also as mentioned above this one has an early 4000 engine so would that have been done or alternator
If its an alternator thats now fitted its easy to convert back to old dynamo, I have converted a standard dynamo without drive as the drives are a bit like hens teeth, but using a good armature without drive, and a burnt out with a good drive, by swapping the end plate, think I drilled and threaded the end of the armature shaft fitted a bit of threaded rod, cut the worm off the dead armature and drilled and threaded that and used lock-tite, so one way to get a cheep working dynamo. Two questions my nephew is doing up a 4100 as part of his college coarse he's on a tight budget
One is does anyone know of a pair of 36" wheels on six stud?
Two. is there a way of getting the rev counter to work this tractor has got an alternator many thanks
It's a cartridge one4000 would have dynamo, how old is your4000 engine spin on filter or cartridge type
That’s more difficult if not impossible, but if you remove the oil filter housing and put on adapter to use spin on filter you may be able to fit a drive.you also maybe able to swap an original style engine ,big filter engine are getting rare. depends how fussy and how much hassle you want. It's a cartridge one
Sorry. But why would you convert it to a dynamo. You would have to modify the wiring loom for a voltage regulator. New regulators made in China are crap. Modify mounting bracket. Also alternators are more reliable with a better output. Hour/ Rev counter would have to be changed.
If the rev counter can't be fitted to the old engine go back to a dynamo with cable drive, and a dynamo not bodged up outlasts an alternator, I agree some of the reproduction stuff is crap so I repair old myself, and batteries last longer with them being gently charged. whats different with the wiring theres little to do.Sorry. A dynamo has I think 5 wires to a regulator, an alternator really only uses 2, one direct to positive on starter and one from ignition light, to retro fit alternator you cross wires at the regulator, the reverse is a re-wiring job.If the rev counter can't be fitted to the old engine go back to a dynamo with cable drive, and a dynamo not bodged up outlasts an alternator, I agree some of the reproduction stuff is crap so I repair old myself, and batteries last longer with them being gently charged. whats different with the wiring theres little to do.
