But the 550 was centre driven and small wheels, not sure it would work.
Hi, yes you are right but..
1. Centre drive but I use only the front axle from 550, boulster and front dropbox from a 4600-4610 4wd and rear dropbox from a 4wd 4600
2. Wheel dimensions is 24 front and 36 back

You need to get all the 4wd parts from one tractor to be sure that the ratios will be correct.

Evening all,

I hope there’s still some active members around.
Been searching the net and found this post.
I’m after the Round slotted but that goes inside the Carraro front axle.
I’ve got a 4600 conversion. I’m told the front and back axle came off a 4610. Been searching part number on CNHI, but still not 100% sure that I’m looking at the right mechanical drawings.

anyone got any info on identifying Carraro axles from the EL number. Mines EL982.

Look almost similar to what leyland used too
They won't be the same but possibly worth a look to rule it out

Gday (hello) everyone, I'm Graham Lapworth, from the South Coast, New South Wales, Australia. I just came across this thread and I am greatly interested as I own a Ford 4600 4x4 with FEL,1980 I think, with cararro front axle. I purchased it for $14000 10 years ago, cheap for down here Unfortunately I just experienced an engine failure, emulsified oil/water in the sump. So I was trying to decide whether to scrap her or not, it would seem I have a rare old tractor. I do love her so I will fix the engine, however I was contemplating putting a new BSD 333 short engine in, but after your comments it would be a mistake to change to a new engine. The upside, I have her panels off and I will take some pics for you. Mine has the same front axle set up as in your pics but different at the back and no county emblems. I'm not a Tractor expert but I have plenty of experience and some problems I have had and solved. Happy to chat. Excuse my ignorance but what would my tractor sell for to a collector, any Ideas?
Cheers Graham.

In the UK?
Probably about the same as the shipping cost?
Value £8k in good order with good Q cab?
Dry country European Q cabs can change hands for £4k.
Mend it, work it and enjoy it.

My son is driving a header in Moree. Could he ger it in his luggage?

The axle is a Carrero AE 2 there’s nothing special about it it’s also used on Marshall, David Brown 1400 series Case and possibly Sanderson there will be others too

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
