Hi all, our old ford 7610 is pitifully slow in wrapping our bales..its topped up, new filter. Book says its 68 litre per minute…kvernaland wrapper, nothing fancy…what might be wrong, or what can we do to improve things?, thanks

Probably got plenty of wear in the gears on the pump - expensive fix.

Bigger diameter couplings?

Or else an auxillary pump fitted on the PTO like we used to have on the old Farmhand loaders?

Just behind the hydraulic filter on the right hand side of the gearbox is a small strainer filter that sometimes gets forgotten about. Also, under the cab floor below the front of the seat is a priority valve that can cause problems. I've had spools that work slow, taken that apart, re assembled and spools worked ok again.

As above ^^^^
You can also pressure test it by plugging a guage into a spool valve.
It may be just a faulty/worn relief valve (easy fix - it's the thing about 1" diameter, with nut shaped flats on it, screwed into the pump near the oil filter).

It won’t be that expensive to replace the pump if needed, don’t go messing about with pto pumps and tanks.
Most wrappers don’t need much flow,30l/ min should be plenty.
We ran a McHale 991 on a 4610 with single pump for years,it had plenty of flow.

Probably also worth checking the flow and return connectors on both the tractor and the wrapper - if they don’t mate cleanly oil flow can be very reduced.

Go to your local hire shop and hire a hydraulic powerpack
About £100/week, no trsctor needed

If it’s got a axillary pump on side of the engine in will have a good flow of oil or should have my 7810 went weak on the spools and it was the priority valve we stripped it or even slackened a few valves on it to flush it I now it took quite a bit of re sealing with new O rings but worked perfectly since , I think the actual priority valve in the priority valve housing does get weak or scored with dirty oil.

Are you running off a spool valve? As above, they are adjustable I think. Or are you riunning off the trailer pipe by pulling the external service knob out - Just check that its pulling fully out.
Running off a spool..the lever to operate it can be a bit iffy alright..we have to tie it in place or it pops back toneutral..could that be a sign of something?
