Free flow return pipe on jcb tm 270

Looking to buy a post knocker and have been told I’d need to fit a free flow return Pipe to allow the hammer to fall with speed, is it possible to retro fit a free flow return pipe on a jcb tm270 thanks.

Can fit one to anything, pretty easy. Common way on tractors is to put a tee in the filler cap and an adapter/quick connect to plug in. Make sure the hose is large enough to allow all the oil to escape other wise you will have burst pipes or a slow hammer drop.

On some tractors that wont work, Some John Deeres for example, when returned through the filler it takes too long for it to find its way through the back end to were the pump suction pick up is so the pump will run dry. Fortunately JD have a low oil warning sensor that shuts the pump off or at least the one i had to deal with did.

you wont be able to fit it up in side the boom so will just have to have a coil on the outside, it'll look crap IMO and easy to damage but i would think the biggest issue will be getting it across the centre pivot! Do you even need one?? buy a knocker with out a spool block on it, you already got side shift built in to the pivot and tilt on the headstock what more do you need? You then might want a one way restrictor valve on the line so you get more controlled lifting of weight but full flow down. i have fitted them on manitous before as with the high flow pumps the weight was lifting too fast and banging the top!
