Gall Bladder removal

Keyhole? A relative said the surgeon put a whiff of compressed air through the opening so he could see where he was going! Other than being slightly more windy than normal, it was a walk in the park, so I heard. Good Luck.

As I understand it, or rather, as it was explained to me, the gall bladder is a bit of throwback structure which modern humans don't really need. The liver creates the bile and the gall bladder is just a storage reservoir for it (the bulk of bile is reabsorbed in the ileum a bit later as it's quite expensive to manufacture).

Appendix is also in the same category but there was something I read that I seem to remember suggesting it was a reservoir for gut bacteria so that it could rapidly repopulate the gut if needed. In reality it is a weird and very tiny little thing usually smaller than your little finger.

There are a few other odds and ends in the left over category but I can't remember them now.

Big hand to the NHS (after 4 years from original GP appointment) but was in at 07.30 and home before 3pm

Off work for 2 weeks, no driving for 48 hours and no heavy lifting for 6 weeks …. Bliss.

Now, does anyone want to see a pic of me in my “netty knickers”?
