Gem trailed sprayer track width adjustment

Evening all.

I'm struggling to adjust the track width on the Gem sprayer I bought last year. I suspect that the inner and outer bits of box on the axle are rusted together. I've tried heat, a big hammer, penetrating oil, a ratchet strap and even pushing the end of the axle with a tractor. Anyone got any ideas, other than opening up the outer piece of box with the grinder?

Turn the wheel rims round.

I strapped one wheel to the leg of a shed and pulled the other wheel out with the telehandler on ours… pulled it out a good bit, cleaned it up, greased it and put it back in again

Hit mine a few bangs with the forklift and it hauled it back out, luckily only one side stuck

Thanks for the replies. Will probably chain the one side to a stanchion and give it a pull with the teleporter.

Heat first and gentle tension while whacking it with a sledgehammer?

Why wouldn't this have been the first thought to do ??

Because the sprayers have this 'feature', or they did 25 years ago when they were new.

Have a set of tyres on rims no centres off my old Gem - tyres 85% good - here - cheap to clear

Maybe the OP wants to go narrower?

He maybe has a set of flotations to put on and needs the axles wider to make them fit

Simples rims on the other side of dishes will give 2" less per side.

BTW John those boom ends look like the flip over type be very careful when opening I can see power lines in the picture.

Hydraulic ram tied ( )under the axle and connect to back of a tractor?
Portapower rams are very good in small areas.
