It's easy to point the finger. Humanity is the problem because of farming allowing industrialisation.

There is so much potential for farming to provide a big big part of the solution.
That's a within industry discussion. More than enough of that on here, a casual reader wouldn't have e fekking clue what they were reading frankly, same as every other industry.

This is about bringing some facts to the table to shine a light on the utter drivel that is being shared on every bit of media and being presented as factual.

It's very easy to critisise the COP gathering.

But if it results in measures to reduce fossil fuel use that actually results in limiting us to 1.5 degrees rise.
It'll be worth it.
It won't though. Have you not noticed that in the last few weeks we're being weaned onto a 2 degree target. It's almost as if reality is starting to dawn on the policymakers' advisors. COP26 is about signing docs that were talked about at the last COP meeting. Among other things not for the likes of us obvs.

A good start would be pointing out the biased figures for UK agriculture in the UK plan which shows no figure for CO2 absorbtion - even for the woods we own.
Glad the Non Farming Union are already on the case for us..........!!
Guess Battersby will be in attendance with a lot of talking going on behind the scenes, same old same old.
What a wonderful time to be a farmer. I've always maintained, that we have something they want and they'll do anything to get it, shaping up to be almost right.
Batten down the hatches and derive revenue from elsewhere I think is the way forward for us, if of course we can.

What about all the fossil fuel being used to get attendees there !
Helicopter and light aircraft pilots are flat out carting delegates to this 'carbon friendly' conference !!

It doesn’t matter whether cattle in this country are stood on top of a hill, grazing a river meadow, housed in a concrete shed or a suite at the Ritz, official Government figures put ALL of agricultures contributions to emissions at 10%, so cattle, however they are kept are not a problem, especially as they are part of a completely natural cycle that has been around for several millennia without causing the imminent end of life as we know it.
So, please, no more manly arguments about ”mines better than yours, because….”, cows are not the problem, simple message, we just need to stick to it, loud and proud, keep hammering that home ad nauseum, no apologising, grovelling and hand-wringing like our great leaders are wont to do. Cows are not the problem.
That's what I was trying to say but you did it a million times better than me (y)

Not checked if it's 100% true but I think it will be pretty close to it. Stopping producing beef here will just mean it's production is exported.
Yes that's how governments are going to get to their targets, by importing things that have already had their carbon footprint accounted for in its country of production.
That's why its all a big con.

That's precisely what you did with your concrete systems are finished post.
I didn't say they were finished, I was trying to explain that when you put up a picture of a cow eating grass on a sunny summers day and try to tell people how wonderful it is they will see through it and point out all the indoor systems and use of concrete, diesel etc.
No. So why are you doing so?
Even cows that are finished indoors in the UK and sheltered from Winter weather are predominantly grass fed from birth to death.
I'm not competing against anyone, I'm not a farmer. What I'm saying is farmers are competing against each other by saying one systems better than the other.
Right now the Kiwi's are trying to breed cattle that produce less methane and are trying to convince countries that NZ Beef is greener.
Organic farmers try and sell their vision as being better for the environment and so on.
Global Ag should be saying, we are only responsible for a small percentage of global emissions despite our huge industry feeding the entire planet. So bugger off and look somewhere else.

I don't like the images that tell the other 99% of the population that they are the problem, it's a good way to make sure it's 99 v's 1. I just like the positive stuff about cows.
