Good Company To Hire A Tractor From.

Aye-up,

I might need to hire in a tractor for about 5-6 weeks next August and September.

About 110-120hp, lightweight four cylinder preferred. Nothing fancy needed. Wide tyres the only real requirement.

Any good suggestions for suppliers? Approximate cost?

Knowing your now up and running with the Claas boys just ask them they have a lot of tractors out on hire or may hire you a trade in some dealers do a fair bit of that.

How much will hire cost , against finance on a good used tractor , yes you have breakdown risk , but would go a long way to paying for it . 550/600 a week to hire , then you have a wet week or two and your delayed and need it after hire period , buy one

Most hire companies want 8 week min at harvest

we usually hire something from our local dealers why tend to be more flexible and will do just a single week if you want

I spoke to three companies yesterday and they’ve no problem with what I’m asking.

Quite a variation in costs.

Dad hired a tractor from Frank Rowland 25 years or so ago.

Fantastic service from him and I remember his lorry driver, Johnny, being a great chap, really helpful.

Looking at his website he’s quite dear, but I won’t forget that great service if I get towards making a decision.

Would the first option not be to ring round all the local tractor dealers, rather than enquiring with folks from away (Welshpool? )? Surely plenty within a 30 mile radius that could fit you up, and be close enough to cover breakdowns promptly.
