My crystal ball is showing a different picture to Clives. In mine his children have moved to Australia because they were so fed up with him spending all of his time on Forums and telling the world how great he is.
Lee is still Farming on his. 27 th different farming system having made all others fail, but not his fault apparently, it was the manufacturer. He has now put up more small crap sheds. He now spends his time cleaning them and loading lorries. He is still convinced they are Grainstores and believes he is a forward thinker

I guess time will tell, nice thing about forums is they record things to refer back to , I've always fancied a second home or farm in Australia as well

Or Lee could be renting them out for£ 3or£4 a square foot and be living off the income

Try taking farming in general :scratchhead:

What buy land at £10k/acre and sit on it for 10 yrs and it will be £15k/ac and in the meantime rent it out at £250/ac.

These guys have the cash in the bank. Its a good deal and why James Dyson has just spent £200 million Lincolnshire and apparently has another £200 mill to spend.

Wake up Rob, just trying to justify something that is disguised and something else. CS is a con.

I can't see how CS stacks up unless you are growing borderline milling wheat, combineing above 16% and on a tennented farm.

We grow all feed wheat sell delivered to store

You've got to laugh.

Do you really think a businessman like James Dyson doesn't know about tax and iht.

I never said he was going to sell after 10 yrs did I? I was pointing out that land is a good investment unlike CS because after 200+ posts in this thread there still are no actual proper facts suggesting its nothing more than a con.

He is buying it to avoid IHT , must think it will stay in place, cant be doing it to make farm profits from compared to the returns from other investments .Wont enjoy the cap on the new sfp but like most wealthy businessmen through history will enjoy the role as country squire.

Why does it cost a group of farmers so much more to build a store than a single farmer? And why does it cost a group of farmers so much more to run a store than a single farmer ? If a group of farmers go together to buy a fleet of machinery to work across the farms it won't necessarily be dearer than each owning their own or each hiring contractors. So where do central stores go wrong,if indeed they do ?

Perhaps there is more than cost to be considered. That's not ducking the issues we have discussed endlessly but to be heard by the big players downstream in the food chain there needs to be a big voice at farm level. The likes of Camgrain have the capacity to sit at the same table as Sainsburys.

True but I thought that's what everybody paid the NFU to do on the industry's behalf?

Has the likes of Camgrain started to finish the other con called the NFU?

Perhaps these boys dont remeber whats happened to the dairy industry because of the short sighted attitude of a few when the mmb was ripped from us, size as you say is king.
