Anyone else using Graindex much this year? Have found quite a few times this year that prices are better than I can get from speaking to merchants representatives. Possibly a result of some merchants being short but its opened up new contacts I normally wouldn't of dealt with. No vested interest just really like the platform/idea/results.

Used it for the first time last week. Sold 2 loads of Feed Barley for October. Had an £8 spread on prices. Sold it to a company I have not dealt with before, so will reserve any comment until the barley has been collected and money in the bank. Though just sticking to the Graindex platform it seemed to work ok. I may even try some Wheat for next year on it.

Same experience here.

been using it for two years now-find it simple to use and like the transparency. Always surprised at the spread of bids but usually £2-£3 above my normal merchants. The area reps. are very helpful too.

Used it a bit the last 3 years. It definitely opens up new outlets from the same old list of merchants you always ring up. I’ve nit yet had a problem with any load I’ve delivered through it.
I’ve sold 5 load with it so far this year.

They offer to insure 90% of the value of the transaction for £1/t. Which covers a big lose if you getting quoted £2-3/t over the big boys.

I see that but it is a cost and still risks 10%

small merchants scare me, too many horror stories over the years

love the Graindex platform though, just wish those big guys would get on board

They won’t basically because they don’t need to. Just like all the big chemical suppliers pulled out of Yagro on the same day. It’s too transparent for them.

Interesting to see that beeswax are advertising their grain to end users directly. Didn’t they use to market through Gleadell? Perhaps they are tiring of the take it or leave it approach of the “big two”?

What's their total cereals tonnage though?

This will be part of their bossman's policy of cutting out the middle man.
Define middleman. Are they going straight to the mill? Why not have their own mill - are they selling bags of flour straigt to the customer? They are big but they aren't that big, as far as I know they are about 35000T wheat. Cereal farmers are growing a commodity, unlike veg its hard to take a load of wheat to a home without completely changing what your business is.
