Gritter/salt spreader

Anybody recommend a small trailed gritter? Got quite a steep north facing council road as the only farm access, have always gritted it with loadall bucket/shovel but end up using far too much and ends up damaging road surface aswell as wasting salt/grit.

only single track lane so imagine a small trailed, land driven gritter would be fine, don’t want to buy some £700 Chinese special that gets used 3 times and parked in the corner of a shed.

Kuhn do a small mounted on. Our local dealers (agricar) have one shown on there website. No experience of it though.

Bought rocksalt from this firm and they were easy to deal with and seems better than the normal set like concrete stuff the council fill the salt bins with.

I guess If I buy something off them and their salt doesn’t go through it I only have to moan at one person. Anybody got one?

As @bill and bens dad said, a Vicon Varispreader. Plenty of them about, parts are readily available and if you're feeling really flash they make a spout especially for spreading salt and grit. Stirring attachments are also available if bridging is an issue. One with a steep sided or even the old D shaped hopper would be best.

Mounted on loader brackets you could give it a shake, only downside is rigging up hydraulic drive.

I have one from Vale engineering, winter wizard I think they call it. Slides on to pallet forks and runs off hydraulics. Use so much less salt than shovelling it out. @RAW24
