Il admit to being in the gang of 200hp on a hedger
I ran a jd6820 and replaced a 6.5metre machine with a 8 metre machine, as there's lots of large ditches in this area. It also came down to a very good machine at the right condition and price.
I then replaced the jd with a 200hp nh that could also pull the big square baler.
It's big but holds the hedger very steady with plenty of reach, I would say it depreciates just as much as a 140hp machine and uses the same amount of fuel. Also it has to pull a 4x3 baler

Did you pull up to a JD and nick his front weight?

That's sneaky:rolleyes::whistle::jimlad:

What's suits one man won't suit another. Can't agree more with the point above. 8m on a small tractor cutting down into a dyk where the head is supported 90% of the day is very different to cutting in wales with a 140hp tractor on wide tyres with a 5.5m reach machine !

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
