Heifer sucking cows

I run maiden heifers with the milkers for serving, which normally works very well.....one of them is sucking cow's and she has successfully lost 3 of the metal anti sucking nose rings within a few days of them being fitted. Does anyone have any tips, I've searched for different types of ring but they all seem to come from China with several months delivery quoted. Best just to run her with some bullocks for the summer?

A bull ring with a few links of mid sized chain.

if you’re not keen on that then we have found the green plastic anti suckers stay in better

Thanks, just found this, could be worth a try...

We’ve got a few new ones of the orange type shown above, find they either get them out in a couple of days or after a while the nose starts to grow around it inside, so you then take it out and hey presto she starts sucking again! I think Will Blackburn has the best idea.

Get rid only solution will ruin cows and take milk Had one here tried everything even two of those plastic devices one up one still managed to suck. Here her sucking even now did nothing to help my blood pressure as I said better off dead

We like the plastic ones for anything reasonably small but anything of any size gets metal ones. I am also in the get rid camp I’m afraid- we had a mother and daughter who both did it so looks like it’s not only bloody annoying but also genetic so that’s excellent. Get rid.

Copper bull ring, some of our little f***ers need one every year! It stops them, and once it’s in, it never comes out!

we have a cow, with a green plastic one, stopped her sucking, and still in 18 months later ! Just put another in a stale hfr, just suddenly started it, i'd like to know why she's started, been fine, calved end sept, due oct. But, as above, if either continue, market, although the spikes on the green one are nearly worn out, she may get another.
I wonder, by using 'teat' feeders for calves, as a lot do, whether this could lead to it, we try and get ours drinking milk from a trough, in groups, as soon as we can, in the hope of avoiding it.

Local ag merchant would have been my first port of call
