Herdwatch taken out £200 subscription

Not sure if this is the right place, but has anyone else had a problem with Herdwatch taking out a subscription? Got an email this morning with an attached invoice, even though my subscription ended last year and my card details have expired on the app.

I contacted them straight away and we’re so unhelpful, I haven’t even started using the service this morning so I’m not getting robbed of £200.

Hi Ollieb, Herdwatch is a subscription service where our members pay a fee annually to use the Herdwatch app to manage their herd and farm paperwork and that fee includes access to the app, software updates and customer support each year. We have a set policy where all members are provided with a renewal notice by email 30 days in advance of their upcoming subscription renewal and they can cancel their subscription within that period at no cost. If they do not, their subscription is automatically renewed using the payment details that are retained using a secure 3rd party payment service in accordance with the terms of the service. So how do you take his money if the cards expired?

Take a look at the screenshot, the pro plan was until 3/11/21. You’ve taken out a subscription without my consent and with card details you don’t even have?

When a subscription has started, anyone has right to cancel within 14 days with no reason FOC.

I was I the same trouble, luckily mine was with a credit card so contacted them and I got my money back. Not a nice company to deal with and a bad word gets around fast.

Really?

You think helping yourself to money and hoping nobody realises they should've cancelled the subscription is good practice?

It certainly doesn't promote potential customer confidence in the integrity of your business!

Not the first person I have heard of having these issues with having this issue with them. I would of thought it being a subscription there will be a 14 day cooling off period to cancel I am sure that's a statutory right is it not. I have been using @Farm Matters Ltd for a few years now and it started on a free trial and did not have to put card details in for the trial if I remember correctly and Niel is the only point of contact I have and never had an issue with sorting anything out with him and software does everything I need and more.

A scam in common usage by web hosting companies

very difficult for them to enforce and you can cancel at any time you like by telling either them or your card company.

Your card details have expired - so they cannot take anything from your card.

They have sent you an email with an invoice - reply to them telling them that you no longer require the service and their invoice is not accepted

Have heard similar problems from a neighbour with them. Put me right off signing up. He was initially very happy with the service (hence my interest), but eventually cancelled due to customer service issues.

I rang up and enquired but I thought they were pushy hence why I haven’t signed up. Glad I didn’t now.
