As above REST! Be very strict with it. I think it should say "at least" 6 weeks.

Possible it depends on location and size of hernia.

Mine was popping out my belly button. I could still feel a tearing sensation a year after operation when doing core excercise at the gym. To be honest I had more discomfort following the operation and was regretting having it done.

Its fine now.

Had inguinal one repaired 2017 under local anesthetic. Certainly a funny sensation. Superglued outer wound so op at 2.00pm, home and nice hot bath by 4.30 👍. Did nothing strenuous for 4 weeks then gently eased back into light work. No heavy stuff for at least 6

I had an inguinal one done under local about 10yrs ago.
Unfortunately the autumn residuals spraying day that I had been waiting 3 weeks for, happened the next day.
Suffice to say I never got off the sofa the day following that...
Surgeons do actually know what they are on about, so when they say rest, perhaps better to listen.

I was able to push a loop of guts out into my scrotum for a party trick, before mine was done, and they were still able to do that under sedation. Never had any problems with it since either.
Don't worry about it, it will be fine.

Billy Connolly told a story of how he attended a party with a buffet and held the plate of food at his groin as he mingled round the room with his willy lying among the salad.
Not sure you could camouflage a scrotum full of intestines so easily

Be interesting if someone had tried to pinch his lettuce with a fork 🥴

Ive had 2, right when i was 4 and the left when i was 14. Did the last on lifting bags of tatties onto a trailer.

Got added to a waiting list bit about 2 weeks later it strangulated which was agony and got taken to hospital.

My wait for the op got cut from months to 2 days🤣. Remember talking total rubbish coming round. It was sore for days and i was unable to swallow tablets for some reason back then so i had to tough it out, remember walking bent double.

20 years later never had a problem even after years of weightlifting

I’m terrified of drs and needles. Had a groin hernia and one just below the rib cage. While they were in there the meshed the other side of the groin. Nurse asked if I was snipped and wife said I wasn’t because I was too afraid to go. True. She surpass that the surgeon could just cut the cords higher up and I’d feel nothing as they were in the right area already.
Not even remotely true I was too scared to cough for days. Felt like my balls were going to fall off.
