Hilux clutch knackered

They may hold there value well but all vehicles take a sizeable hit in value as they drive off the forecourt,

Dont forget warranty ,once a vehicle is a certain age the repair costs mount up.
I would hazard a guess our defender has cost 6k in depreciation in 7.5 years 70k miles,
pretty good .
If I change the Hilux at 3 years 30k miles will be looking at 4.5-5k depreciation then start again with new warranty.

3 years and 30,000 miles is very different to 7000 miles though, the bulk of that £4.5-5K depreciation is surely in those first 7000 miles

To be honest if I was going somewhere on my own I’d opt for defender everytime, I’m going for bike petrol tonight 4o mile round trip and I put the Jerry cans in the defender not the hilux .
I complain when I have to drive a 10 mile Round trip to lazonby for bike petrol :ROFLMAO:

Their is one a bit closer but I refuse to use it as the owners and staff are pig ignorant miserable sods who are dearest about , so I go a bit further and spend my hard earned with nicer people, it’s a shame more didn’t rather than just moan and complain .

Depends what initial discount you can barter compared to Joe public .
If your 10% better off in the beginning that's taken most of the depreciation hit.
I think this is what Nick has found.

I guess if you can find a salesman that knows you will buy a new vehicle every few months he knows he can afford to stretch you a little more slack than most

To give you an idea one Hilux was quoted at 8% discount whereas the one we
purchased was 19% ,both dealerships are owned by the same parent company.

Having never bough a road vehicle from new I am not sure what the figure would be before discount.. I could not bear to drive a new one though, I need something I can get in with wellies and chuck tools in the back without cringing each time. Similarly with the family car, kids have devalued ours quicker than age and mileage!!
