Holding Numbers

Hi,

First time poster looking for some information on holding numbers and Herd/Flock Numbers.

If I was a mixed farmer (Sheep Cattle) in England and I have a CPH holding number. Do you then get a separate flock number to Id your sheep and Herd Number to Identify your Cattle or are they the same? Just wondering what goes on the tags of each animal. Is this the same for each UK region too?

Sorry for the simple question here.

Thank you for the response. Have the cattle and sheep with the same herd number diffident identifier numbers then?

Yes, they both start at 1, although if and when we get Electronic tags for cattle, they might have a different numbering system. But it seems that electronic tagging in cattle is still problematic- it's been put back for yet another year- according to my tag supplier.

Thanks a lot for the response. Just to be clear if you were ordering tags for both your Sheep and Cattle the same Herd number would be applicable to both and the same on the tag? What I am trying to understand is if the Sheep have a separate way of being identified on the EID Tag or if there is a different identifier number on the EID for sheep.
