I believe they have power disc coulters, are these any good for dd and moved ground light and heavy?
Looks like a good set up, wonder how well it would work in the wet.
They are a similar set up to a trailed one minus the front discs?

With 350-400hp weighing 15-17 tonnes on the front it will need some coulter pressure to put the seed in behind the wheels! This is progress beyond cutting the coulter bar off one of their cultivator drills?? As above, not a direct drill.

I agree the tractor on it is totally overkill and should be Fendt 240 without wheel weights, the powerdisc coulters offer up to 150kg of pressure but I would imagine thats not nearly enough for dd when the ground 'depending on soil type' is rock hard!
I wonder if wavy discs in front of the tyre packer would work/help?

I'm bored, so let's do some maths,

specs taken from the horsch web site,
Taro- 36 drill units
weight- 4300kg
4300/36= 120kgs just, that's 30kgs short of 150.
to get the 150kg it needs an other 1.1t, from some where 🤷‍♂️

If they were in line with the coulters it might help with penetration, discs with small waves if you get my drift.

My thoughts too. Those levelling tines in front of the tyres will just collect any straw if you tried to DD with them or drill into high residue levels.

That’s assuming you get 100% weight transfer onto the discs. In which case the tyre press is just an ornament and will be off the ground.

Are Horsch full of bull poo then? Look at that 12m avatar for example that won't put 220kg down per coulter unless you lift the wheels off the ground which surely it won't allow, it would break? When drilling into baked hard ground?
