I bet that running gear would last a lot longer than that

I don't get the 'running gear' argument for justifying the extortionate cost of these trailers. What's wrong with the axles, wheels & bearings on normal trailers that justify paying half as much again for a prestige badge? It's a livestock trailer, not an F1 racing car.:scratchhead:

It isn't extortionate. It's commercial running gear and a level of construction far superior to regular trailer makes. It's not compulsory and there are many happy farmers with IW / GE / Hudson / Nugent trailers

Same argument that can be levelled against - say - a CASE vs a Fendt or an L200 vs a Range Rover

I can't afford one but if I was like a mate who collects casualty stock behind an Isuzu all day every day or had show cattle and wanted something coloured / branded or I was a calf dealer and wanted one behind a small lorry, that application and the oversize brakes / heavy duty running gear would make sense.

Clearly a few seem to agree

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
