How does one know how much to rent a field for?

We have 2-3 acre field in South Wales, how would I go about finding out how much we could rent it out for? It has a river flowing along the bottom and is mainly grazing land. Thanks so much!

Advertise it on facebook for £10 a week payment 2 months in advance for purely horse grazing. No storage of any kind (or it will fill up with all sorts of shite) and stick to 11 months rental per calendar year max.

Or go to an ordinary estate agent

Would that just be a normal estate agent or is there specifically a land agent? Sorry I'm new to this!
some estate agents have a department that specializes in agricultural matters and probably also runs a livestock market, such as BJP in Carmarthen, or Edward Perkins in Haverfordwest etc, they will know the lie of the land far better or Morgan & Davies, Mc Cartneys etc

£10 a week?! That sounds crazy cheap.

Land agents fee would be atleast 1/3 of what three acres is worth to rent and a dairy farmer isnt going to want 3 acres either. Advertise locally for grazing for 6months on fb groups etc and ask for offers

Land agents are well connected people......and contrary to popular opinion they don't charge for every second of their time. Some recognise it pays to play the long game.

Location is important.

That size field would easily be free in this area and probably wouldn't be touched by any farmer.

Sometimes finding someone to keep it tidy by grazing a few sheep or cattle and cut the hedges will be far less hassle and expensive in the long run, than the horse brigade that pay and leave it full of weeds and poached to hell.
