EFA greening etc
There are ways and ways of meeting your greening requirements, and without knowing all the ins and outs of your farm it is impossible to say if you could have met them with less disruption to your business. But to blame X-Compliance for your choice to gap up hedges when there is no requirement for you to do it seem odd to me.

UK dairy farmers can now apply for extra EU funding ( due to low milk prices ) worth on average £11000 a farm! ( assuming the UK takes up the option of claiming it )

Edit : The EU announced this a few days ago.
Dont worry. The dairy lads are all for unity amongst farmers. They will put it into a fund and share it out amongst the rest of us!;)

Each farm is different, for example we were lucky and didn't need to change anything to meet the EFA. However you could have claimed 50% of the sub an not done any of the EFA measures last year. Sit down do the maths and do what is right for your business. Now that the subs are decoupled they are there in order to compensate us for work that needs to be done to meet cross compliance and to encourage us to farm in a way that gives perceived "environmental benefits" (debatable I know), but that is how it is.

well lets put it this way if im claiming for a 1500 metre hedge but it has a a 2-3 gaps in it of more than 20 metres it makes sense to fill those in esp as there is no standard as to what size of hedge it has to be only hedgerow whips , so this explains why I spent a little in order to use the full length

So what you are saying is that you used hedges to meet your EFA (amongst other options) and gapping up those hedges was cost effective for meeting your EFA but you are still not happy that you got paid to do it. At the same time you were given the opportunity not to get paid 50% of your sub and not do the work, but you chose to do it anyway.

The middle way is best, fill form in,claim, farm as you want,i.e. Ignore three crop rule, silly sheep tagging rules etc..

If you have an inspection, just take the penalisation and carry on.

Sometimes you may not have an inspection for many, many years and even in the event of one you can wing it.
Bad advice, i take yours off you for that.

Wales by 2019 according to a new page on gov website or my payment will be down to £56/ a unit at .77 exchange rate or around £20 / ac then will it be worth it

But that is just one element isn't it? You also have redistributive payment, and greening payments. Add those in and my payments are predicted to rise by 65% in the next 4 years. But I am coming from a position of relatively low value SFP entitlements.

im happy I got paid to do it ,the op asked at what level would you stop claiming and for me it wouldbe 15/20£ acre cos thats how ive worked it out for our circumstances at the moment I think youve got hold of the wrong end of the stick or I havnt made myself clear or youve misunderstood , never mind .
