Who has much to do still ?

managed to grab our beans this week, cutting through the rain at times ! yields decent at least

still got 150ac of linseed to do which isn't looking very pretty now, was sprayed off 5 weeks ago now ! beginning to feel more like a salvage job that a harvest

I think this must be one of the worst we have had, only one occasion where the combine has run on 2 consecutive days since we finished OSR in July !

I've finished cutting my own but still got oats and spring wheat to cut for a customer, possibly some spring barley for another chap as well.
If it keeps raining I think there maybe a couple of other people call who I know are starting to panic a little now! There's still a lot of corn still out when riding about round here.

Acres and acres of spring barley left around here, some as flat like you have driven a grass roller over it!

Several fields of spring oats still to do.

Few fields of wheat..

And quite a few fields of beans!

Straw down about as well.

Have had a hell of a lot of rain the last week, next week was meant to be dry but that seems to be disappearing as well.

Also some with small bale hay still to cut!

And you think straw will be cheaper than last year .

7 acres of s wheat and 12 acres of canary seed, lots of crops of beans in this area + the odd crop of wheat.
Haven't moved in 10 days, 80mm in sept so far has kinda screwed things up.
Thankfully we managed to clear all the w beans and linseed, before the weather broke.

Finished wheat about 4 weeks ago now. Sprayed linseed off last Friday so it'll be another week at least before ready to cut but looks an ok crop at the minute.

Straw wise I spoke to two merchants yesterday who both are concerned about supply running out before Christmas. Both quoted 25-30% down on 10 year average.

90ac linseed, 20ac soya, and 65ac of millet.
None of it even sprayed yet. The linseed is ready for spraying but the other two are unsurprisingly not wanting to ripen.

2 farmers with ww out in the parish, though one has been ill. Linseed and beans also in the field not so far away. Unusual as we are normally an early part of the world.

trouble with linseed is you need some decent weather to cut it, not a lot on the horizon it seems right now

1 sunny, windy dry day and we would get the 150ac done - I'm not confident right now they way 2017 has been so far !

200 acres of spring wheat and barley in West Lancs will be lucky if we salvage half of it, our moss land is soft in a dry year (duals on the combine soft) water in tramlines a foot deep, disaster :bag:

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
