Hs360 v fransgard 390.

Had this question before but lm going to buy one or the other, silage crop will be lighter this season fertiliser dry weather, so will want to put twp 8fts into one, 360, is 1750, fransgard from gregson 800, plus vat+250 for delivery. 360 on ebay. I fancy the fransgard more, but not young.

You probably know, the 360 is only 360 in rowing form and part of that swath will be unmoved at that width. Tedding is only 3m. Nevertheless they are a useful machine on a small place. I can never get our one to make a really clean job in some conditions.

Am £800 fransgard doesn't sound like something I'd want to own.
Nearly every old one I've seen has had the gearbox housing welded up around the input shaft.

I bought an HS360 when I started out on my own nearly 30 years ago. It did everything for the first 5 years until a 6 rotor tedder came. It is still here with me as an emergency back up to both the twin rotor rake that I bought a few years ago and the old tedder. Personally I think for what they are, they are a good machine that if set right will do either job to a reasonable standard. I used to bale for a chap with the Fransgaurd, it was so nasty to follow that in the last few years I only went on the condition that the grass was raked with a twin rotor. It literally halved the time I was there.

As a lot will say the hs360 is a jack of all trades and master of none. Having said that I have one and it does a good job of both tedding and rowing up once you get the hang of it and if you have a " light" crop you can keep rowing it over and over until you get a big enough row or get bored. Think the only other machine to do this would be a single rotor rake.
I'd go for the 360
