You'll soon wonder how you coped without it, believe me! Great bits of kit if you're a steel fiddler. (y)

Until they go wrong, my Hypertherm went belly up the other day. Last time it was the PCB I think this time it's the torch, whatever it is it won't be cheap :(

It was on aluminium so couldn't use the gas, had to finish the job with a 9" grinder. If I had a bigger guillotine.......

You can do ally too?
I should really investigate what I've bought properly

Yes anything that conducts electric.

Has it got a drag tip on it Dave? If I pull mine along a straight edge (piece of 50x6 flat) it cuts 6mm from the straight edge so I clamp the flat 6mm short/long to get a tidy cut in the right place.
That also applies to templates cut from thin ply and makes for a less "rustic" job.

Drag tip, one that can be dragged across the work instead of hovering like you do with gas.

It's just one less thing to think about when you're going for a tidy cut- I use a straight edge or template for the same reason.

If you get it right you can get the dross to peel (y)

I've not managed that yet, need to play with settings more. It's great not having to spend ages cleaning up cut metal before you weld it though (y)
