I know there is an expert who knows how to fix Grammer air seats. My 20 year old seat has a leak but dont know how to find it. Rubber cushion or valve or pipe or compressor? How do you fault find?

You've sort of answered your own question, its really just fault finding. Any I had, it was either the electric cable, or the air cable, all from chaffing. Its probably easier to remove the seat, and look at it on a bench. Id just look for a leak, using washing up liquid and water sprayed onto where I think the leak is.
Broken glass is the enemy of air bags and pipes. I just got a joiner for the air pipe and that sorted my leak. Funny thing, we have a spurious make in our NH which has done serious hours, and it never gives us any grief, even though, its abused to the last. I often thought grammer is over rated.

Take the seat out of the tractor
Blow it up with lots of weight on it and check everything
It is better to work on out of the tractor

We had a problem with a jcb shovel seat couldn’t find leak with soapy water etc , I eventually traced it to the non return valve in the compressor by holding compressor in bucket of water and blowing down pipes ,new one from eBay been ok since he says touching wood ?

Hi,

If you have leak tested it, then it will probably be the level control valve at the back which controls the height when you click the air handle
There are 2 types and price is around £ 159 + VAT, its situated at the back of the suspension

I haven't had a proper look yet, but have an air seat in a Claas combine that is flat, the pump purrs when operated and air hisses somewhere.
Do you know off hand whose seats were fitted to 400 series and do you have parts?
Thanks

Hi,

Its usually GRAMMER seats also fitted to those, there is an ID label on the suspension at ther back starting MSG95.......
Little silver label on all GRAMMER seats, looks like attached

Best idea is leak test it with soapy water first, might be an easy fix

If not its probably that level valve again

They can leak back through the pump as well....very sneaky (cause inaudible). Not saying it's that but just something to keep in mind. Needs a new pump if it's the case

My old TM started losing air.
Was the non return valve had a tiny bit of crap in it stopping it sealing.
Stripped it out and all good again. I was surprised to see it's got no filtration to stop sucking in dust n muck

Thoroughly recommend Thomas Scott Seating. One of the most helpful and knowledgeable firms I deal with.

But I hate working on seats. Heavy and awkward, and no space around them in the cab.
