measurements along the side
Harry Ferguson was well before his time - if you turn it over, it's metric on the other side.

If u buy new nuts for the u bolts on the cross shaft they probably won't be 1 1 /16" , then the spanner won't fit which is annoying.
Unc i think 🤔 or unf i forget

Yes it will bury a surprising amount of trash without skims but there are limits!! Discs need to be sharp to help cut through it, if on firm ground that'll help also. But if thick matted grass you'll struggle even with skims. Skims should be sharp too.
I use metric bolts in most of mine, the plough spanner is only really used to set disc high and shim hight, hence I use the original bolts/nuts for those.
The trick with a Fergie is to set it up well, despite what everyone says re the "book" I would say the book is wrong, they do like to be set up in a very particular way to get the best (match ploughing) out of them. I have built 6 or 7 match ploughs for other people all set up the same and the work they can produce is very good indeed. One chap had been ploughing for 10 years, I re-built his plough for him and he's being placed regularly and is due to plough at the Nationals, 5 out of the 7 were at the Nationals last year not including mine as upset the fun sponge police!

As I said above, ours didn't have skimmers (they were under the bench in the workshop🤪)
IIRC, they fitted on a 'swan neck' shaped piece of round bar that was attatched to the skeath (disc).

For match ploughing, do you use the same type of skimmer or do you have them fixed to the beam?
