Spent all afternoon changing the chuck in my M18 drill.

It is so easy says the videos.

Need an impact T40 to get the screw out and a 3/4 impact gun to drive it.

Then a T50 to get the chuck off after the locking screw is out, that stripped the inside of the chuck.

Then an angle grinder to cut the chuck to pieces,, I found out that it is almost impossible to cut through chuck jaws with an angle grinder.

Then some very nifty angle grinding to turn the remaining stump into a 24 mm hexagon.

Then a 3/4 impact with a 24 mm socket on the end to get the stump out.

After an hour and a half of sawing etc the new chuck went on very easily. Boy, was the old one on there tight.

I’m sure it’s already been mentioned on here before but is there any easy way to check how much warranty is left on a tool and where do you send it to get it fixed? Have a m18fpd2 drill here that the trigger works intermittently. I’m in Northern Ireland btw.

Sign onto the extended warranty website, it says when warranty runs out

At last found a use for the milwaukee torch. It's big, heavy and not great at focusing a beam when fiddling in dark corners and was never my go to torch but since Arwen paid a visit on Friday and destroyed all the Power lines its been pretty good at lighting up a room and the battery's still going yet.

Another red purchase.

A hot air gun, some of the reviews aren't very kind however people were doing things with it that I don't do like drying plaster and paint. I hope that it can partially or fully replace the bucket of hot water (that cools very quickly) and sponge that I use for thawing out drinkers on cold days. Time will tell but it looks ideal to me.

Such a long thread to look back but has anyone bought a Milwaukee strimmer ??
My current one ( non Milwaukee)has terminally failed prematurely but see Milwaukee do one and I have lots of the stuff (plus batteries) so thought maybe to add to the collection . Not going to be doing loads , just a few hours a month for 8 months maybe . Would the 5 amp batteries be enough or in other words how long would a 5 amp last in work time?
Thanks.

Radio and a torch going on Santa’s list. The M18TLED looks quite a handy economically priced lamp as the others flood type hand held lamps are just stupidly priced for what they are.

On the subject if radio any recommendation? most probably go for the M18JSRDAB allthough it’s a big chunk more than a Makita one!!

M18TLED isn't very good, but if you want to run one get a 2.0Ah battery for it otherwise too heavy, if you have your heart set on a torch get the M12TLED as smaller batteries and lighter. Best hand lamp IMO that they do is M12PAL. Best radio is M12RC DAB+ super little thing and also has a built in charger. My recommendations are all M12 but in these scenarios 12V is better IMO. Have a pile of M18 gear but M12 has its place also.

I’ve nothing 12v yet and staying away from them if I can. I won’t need the lamp as a torch as such just as a lamp under things etc and see it quite handy as it will sit upright on its battery. If I were using tools every day I’d go for a lot of 12v things like lamps, small impact etc, the grease gun ……

Won’t be going to Lamma this year either or would hold out and actually physically see the products there

I bought one back in the summer to replace a husqvarna.
I use 5ah batteries and it’s fine. Tbh it’s probably not doing more than 15 mins work at a time. Not actually timed how long a battery will do.
Good solid piece of kit as you’d expect.
