Why is it of any consequence to you that a bull somewhere was attributed the wrong Mother? If you have any cows, can you claim never to have put the wrong dam or wrong sire on a calf's passport.
Anyone with any street cred knows that many pedigree breeders and Arthur Daley have few scruples when it comes to promoting their wares.
To answer your question I've never knowingly put the wrong sire or dam on a passport, and I'm as good as certain I've not made any mistakes on dams, and I have always done a DNA on the very rare occasion where a sire has been in question.
If you're referring to the case in the OP, you've clearly missed the most likely and pretty obvious reason as to why the wrong dam was allocated.
Keep in mind it wasn't just one animal that turned out to be the problem, there was a list.
