It’s not only the abortion or foot trouble risks joining the farm but there’s also the risk of scab once they’ve gone to a mart, scab is certainly a big concern for most I know.

Any idea what twins due March would be worth? Might buy some(y)

I see what you did there. Start by talking the price down, then mention you might be after some, just in case anyone might have some to sell... (y) 🤣

Fancy any Beltex ewes @Al R ?

I might know where there are a few. If you're interested I may be able to broker a deal for you :whistle: (commission rate very reasonable ;))

@neilo still got those Belties?

in lamb ewes always seem cheap to me....i suppose it's the risk :scratchhead:

They have been making £150/170/80 head easily the last few weeks, seems crazy money when you have all the work/risks.

But on Sat i saw a pen of 6t/FM mules ( good ewes due in March and scanned at about 170% ) make about £122, then i saw same age/size mule ewes with one lamb each ( lambs young but good ) make £125 outfit! and doubles at £140 ish, now work that out ?!

Certainly not being greedy on them. Someone already has their name on them anyway though, so you've probably missed the boat. :)

They would have been ideal for you too. They are really placid sheep (compared to the Charollais anyway), so you wouldn't have so much trouble keeping them in. (y)
