Bit confused just been listening to the woman from QMS on the fed by farmers podcast and she was talking about halal slaughter being stunned first when I always thought halal slaughter protocol was that it wasn't allowed to be stunned first and had to have it's throat slit and hung to bleed out...

How late have people gone, and still got a successful crop, obviously so many variables but interested in experiences had....direct drilled into terminated cover crop too.
4 days off due date. For the last week to 10days we've had at least 1 ewe a day abort. 1 premature looking and 1 dark colour with buttons or a small fetus.
Had 3 sets today. A triplet with 2 small weedy live lambs 3rd 1 black dead fetus.
Another twins not bad size and another just now bit...

Even after 7 or 8yrs, I still consider myself as a newcomer to sheep rearing.
As my own lambing comes near an end and my mind starts to function somewhat nearer to usual, I'm wondering what others consider an acceptable or even inevitable level of lamb mortality at time of lambing itself and...
Recently bought some tenanted land. On visiting it today, I found this ewe clamped over a lamb. She had no water. There was no-one on site.
This looks completely unacceptable. Who better to ask than TFF.
Two nights ago we had jets playing low level chase tag round us. We have established that they come from RAF Lakenheath. There was no warning of low flying on the government website, although that may not have made any difference.
We have now lost 8 lambs aborted before term. They're about 3...

Cases of Schmallenberg virus (SBV) in newborn lambs are being widely reported by vets in areas of the United Kingdom (UK) recently.
The National Sheep Association (NSA) acknowledged an “emerging spike in confirmed cases of Schmallenberg virus”.
NSA chief...
Seems like someone has dobbed you boys n girls in to go to war with russia...seems odd this has come out in news? Given they are not on polish boarder.
Does the usa politics play a role in this? No doubt lead actors are factoring in a trump win now....so what must be done between now and...
Just a question for anyone that has had this in sheep before.
We started lambing on the 1st of jan. It was all going fine untill a week ago and have been hit fairly hard with it. Lost roughly 60 lambs so far to but I’m finding that anything that’s actually managed to live is fairly weak. Might...

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has said there is still “no evidence” that bluetongue virus is circulating as cases of the disease reach 45.
The department said there is no proof of the virus circulating in midges...
Had the ewes in today to fluke drench and sort for housing. After I'd finished I noticed that one particular ewe had left this rather strange vaginal discharge. What is it? She's left multiple puddles of the same in the yard and appears to have stopped discharging for the meantime anyway.
Need to jab some ewe lambs that had a visit over Christmas by a neighbours tup. They are pedigree ewe lambs and his tup is certainly not pedigree let alone right breed.
Vet is saying it’s a vet only jab, is that correct?
Luckily it is only 6 so I can take them into practice easy enough.

I have just had this bought to my attention.
Red tractor survey to ‘inform’ the reviewers.
first I have heard of it, nothing in the latest member matters, on any email or on social media.
feels like they are trying to keep it quiet as usual.
Have had what has turned out to be a neospora outbreak, not sure on source but 20% of 170 adult cows have aborted most of which in a 3 week period and milk testing at drying off looks like another 50%+ is infected, how have people got on managing a large neospora outbreak out of a herd?
