Also on the oil pressure front I’ve changed the engine oil for 15w40 and the pressures back up there. No water contamination but I’m just not sure what was wrong with it whether it was diesel or wrong oil as it just came out like water. And also had the wrong filter according to my local filter supplier said, but pressures up there now.

What is oil pressure like when engine hot and throttle shut off
Wrong oil filter???
I am baffled by that

oil pressure is about 3/4way up the gauge maybe a tad over

this was the oil filter fitted, but I quoted the number to the local guy and he said he’s getting a different number to that coming up on his system.

That is the correct oil filter.
The impeller may have came adrift on the water pump..It's not a big job to remove the radiator to get the fan off and remove the pump to see. A powerwasher both ways into the radiator will do a lot more than a garden hose. Take out that brass bung and blast into the hole and again into the bottom hose until the water runs clean.

The tool I’ve used uses air as well as the hose and it blasts everything out it can, not sure I’d use a power washer in the radiator I’ve seen the aftermath of a power washer close quarters with a radiator never mind internally.

Well, after many hours dicking around today with it, I’ve drained the coolant and used a fancy tool for cleaning radiators View attachment 894001

I’ve cleaned the radiator and flushed the engine. Went to fit the thermostat and came to the realization that there was infact not one fitted.... many google searches later to check I wasn’t going mad. The radiator will accept a garden hose at full chat through the filler neck and not leak out from the top pipe.

Fitted the one I had ordered from eBay tractor was still getting hot within 5 minutes of being started at 1800rpm.
Abit more head scratching went on and I’m sure I’ve got the wrong stat as it should If my theory is correct, block off the access for the short circuit for cold running and force it upwards into the top radiator hose. I think it’s called a bypass valve? am I correct in my thinking, as my bottom hose was red hot but just didn’t seem like anything was happening through the radiator.

See my first message re thermostat, it should be a bypass type of stat.
I included a link to show the types ...

Only comment id make re. Blasting the rad , it may well destroy a poorly rad , but it was on the way out anyhow if thin so due replacement.
My logic with that sort of thing is better done on ur terms wen u wanted rather than a breakdown at a bad time .
But obviously not my money.
New rad would at least rule that out , mate had similar prob with over heating, eventually changed rad , problem solved.

You could always send the radiator for a repair and I would get a new thermostat from Vapormatic. And as has been said that oil filter is the correct one.

I agree that it will be the water pump.

I’ve ordered a new water pump from tractorparts.co.uk today daves very good for bits when I need them. New stat ordered also, what could cause a water pump to fail? I’m assuming the impeller could be spinning on the shaft loose, it’s done 5000 hours so I’d guess it’s got it’s original still. Hoping I can remove the fan and pump with the rad in place.

Yes the fan will unbolt and stay in then unbolt the pump taking care not to snap any bolts bit fiddly but not too bad cleaning gasket is worst bit but never had any issues on an ih pump not pumping tbh

Nor me, the impeller is cast and looks like it would take a substantial press to get it off the shaft.
The only pump failures I have had with IH pumps is coolant leakage.
As has been said, get the right thermostat on it and see.
If you’re still getting a hot top hose and cold bottom hose it will probably be the internal water tubes scaled up and the rad will need to be recored. Usually only a problem when the engine is being worked hard though.
Unless it has done nothing but bale wrapping for years maybe.
Run it with 50% antifreeze.
Sounds a good engine though.

The saga continues, so after taking off the water pump and fitting the new one ( old one had 98mm impeller) the new one had a 112mm impeller so that’s a good change I’d hope.
Now the bad bit.... I’ve had two stats sent from different people one being tractor parts and both not the bypass style, I’m sure this is the issue now. Bugger all wrong with the old water pump, as waters just taking the least path of resistance so very little to no water is being circulated through the radiator. So I’ve now the correct one being sent and I’ve spent 5.00 with agriline for one of there’s also which ever is received first goes in.

Have you taken the plug out on the engine block and ran some water through? When you get it right use 40-50% antifreeze.

I had trouble getting a proper thermostat for my 475, the first 2 got it too hot and blew the cylinder head gasket. I got the proper one from Vapormatic.

The 475 has Perkins engine so would be different

I know that, but I had the same problem as the OP. The tractor got hot so I changed the thermostat, it still got hot so I changed it again, it still got hot so I got one from Paul Sessions who was selling Vapormatic and that one worked! The other 2 were supposed to be the correct ones, but they must have been faulty. Probably Chinese rubbish!!
