Still plenty time for kale up till late June them interval a kale rape cross is good nearly as hardy.just noticed you are 400 miles South of me thing's might be different

Wet weather held spraying up for a few weeks, now the good weather is going to tie the contractors up on silage, so may be a fair wait for dung spreading and working ground up/ drilling

Mid may to mid June for Maincrop Kale , Rape is not that frost hardy and more prone to bloat as less fibre , next option would be Rape /Kale Hybrid

Turn it over and let it do it’s own job. At those indexes you’ve nothing to worry about tickle of N when established and it’ll be away. It’s all going back into the ground anyway
