Is it too late to build a grain store for this harvest?

I was informed yesterday that there is to be changes where I normally store muy grain which got me thinking whether I have time to build a store at home under Permitted Development?
Was thinking of arond 2000 ton with 4 partitions plus dryer shed, ideally with intake pit but with time constrants maybe have to settle for a bucket filled hopper.

What time scale do I need for PD? Will any shed builders have a frame ready to go?

Opinions please

No, you haven’t even time to get a PD permission, never mind a shed built!

I would be looking for any local storage with some capacity a bit smartish if I were you!

Chap I use for buildings is up to the hilt busy trying to get jobs finished for harvest. I think he would just laugh if I asked him to put up a shed this side of November.
I doubt you stand a chance, sorry.
Minimum PD planning will be 28days and they will sit on application for a fortnight before logging it on the system to buy time.

You would also have to let the concrete dry enough or the moisture would transfer
to the bottom foot of the grain heap seen this in someones store before,
not sure how long but would of thought at least a months curing time.....but i'm no expert,
maybe cheaper this year to sell straight off the field and sort out the shed in the winter.

Agree with the concrete needing time to dry and the moisture ending up in the grain seen it happen

Graham Heath has a 1500ton on offer, bang that up and apply for retrospective PP?

Forgiveness is easier sought than permission sometimes !

If you’re 100% that you would get the permitted development then go for it

It’s not illegal to build without planning and it’s perfectly legit to apply retrospectively

With the cost of a new shed I’d put it in store this year and spend the next 3-4 months thinking about what I want and getting planning etc.
Then put one up for next year. If you rush it it may end up costing as more than putting it in store due to not shopping round, making mistakes etc etc

Applied for 2 buildings here under PD, permission granted within 3 weeks.

Same here.- 10k shed went through no issues on PD last winter

Poxy greenhouse with no objections however going to be 5k plus in appeal fees alone !

Planners ! Got to love their logic !

Retrospective could cost a lot of money if they want to get bloody with you.
Cherwell Council made a man with big balls take a decent building down near here a few years ago.
Frankly, the sort of outfit that are able to do what you want, you really dont want anyway.

Made me remember a story from a wealthy man once.

He didn’t like the planners or the council, it was mutual, they watched each other all the time.

He put in planning for a shed, lots of argro but he eventually got it through.

He then deliberately built it a few metres away taller.

Enforcement got excited and waited till it was up then told him to move it.

He cut the legs off and towed it to the correct position.

Planners now hate him even more
