Isuzu auto braking

How do others find this? Twice now it's jammed on the brakes with nothing in front but another vehicle coming the other way while slowing down to pull into our driveway.
You can't permanently turn it off.
How's seasoned users getting with these safety features?

Another useless feature of modern cars. Along with keyless entry which allows thieves to steal it off the driveway, adaptive cruise or lane “assist” which when it isn’t beeping incessantly, tries to steer you into the ditch on most narrow country roads.

Personally I wish car manufacturers would employ fewer software engineers and more mechanical ones!

I found it annoying at first but rarely bothers me now, in fact it’s actually done it’s job in stopping me from having an accident when I thought the car in front was braking for a 30 limit when in fact they were turning right with no indication 🤷🏻‍♂️

Some do it better than others. My 2017 Volvo XC90 was state-of-the-art back then but quite regularly gave false emergency braking and warning lights. Only for the briefest of moments mind you. About one time in ten when passing the Red Lion pub locally it would do it. Quite disconcerting at first but soon got used to it and it was only the briefest of light jabs on the brake. The following Kia was much better and never gave false warnings and the latest Ford Ranger pickup is even better still and never gives false warnings and has additional warnings and auto-brake features, such as when reversing. They all do cross traffic alerts and braking, front and back, but the Ranger will auto-brake when it senses a collision with a wall, hedge or car when reversing directly towards it above a slow crawl speed. Also the lane keep assist, which can be rather intrusive on many cars unless switched off, has three different selectable tugging power levels on the Ford and keeping it on the lightest is best for me, if not switched off completely.

So not all vehicles are tuned the same even if they are claimed to have similar features. I get on very well with it all and particularly like the adaptive cruise control and semi-automatic steering which is great on multi-lane roads. Do wish that the lane assist and auto-start-stop defaulted to the last selected setting on a cold start instead of defaulting to ‘on’.

Had that with a Hilux Invincible I had on demo, passed an oncoming transit van in a country lane (plenty of room for 2 vehicles to pass safely, without any braking) and suddenly the Hilux did an emergency stop.............BANG on the brakes
I didn't care for it....one bit :scratchhead: :X3:
