Isuzu dmax

I know this has been done to death elsewhere probably but interested in opinions of those who own an Isuzu. I'm looking at changing company truck currently have a ranger and it's basically a choice between the two as that's what is offered. The spec would be a dmax utah, do like the look of them just wondered how they compare to ranger off road, economy wise (we can use for private but have to pay back private miles), comfort and reliability wise. Main reason I'm thinking of changing from ranger is following change of company policy I'd have to pay to upgrade for truck I'd want otherwise just get basic model.

I found this bunch on youtube a month ago they will tell you how it is and give the motor a good test

Brilliant thanks for the link just watched it and dmax third overall scoring well in the areas I was most concerned about, beat the ranger so perhaps time for a change

I’ve recently gone from a L200 to a 2014 D Max, had 6 months now, comfortable enough, taken it places I wouldn’t have taken the L200 but I’ve BF goodridge ATs on this, only had general grabbers on L200. Seems to drink a bit less but I think the L200 went better, I went for this because of the 2500kg towing. I’ve a Utah, nice place to be really, I’d have another.

Youd have to get a go in 1 to see what you think. Personally am a ranger fan but thats besides the point. Truth be told id love a dodge ram or f150 but ther far to expensive this side o the pond compared to usa and canada

I do like the ranger I have at moment, has been fairly reliable, few little niggles But nothing major. Main reason I'm thinking about changing is to get the model I want work get you to pay for upgrade now otherwise it's the basic truck which is fine but if I'm paying for a company vehicle I would prefer a better spec of truck, whereas the Isuzu they offer I can get model I want for same as I'm paying now.

My 2015 dmax just clocked up 100k miles. Always serviced on the dot. Can honestly say bonnet has never been up other than servicing. Most reliable truck I've had.
however I do think they need working hard. The diesel regen isn't good tootling round town

It will see plenty of miles and tow most days so shouldn't be too much of an issue

I changed last year from a 2014 Dmax to a L200. The Dmax was ok and seemed well built. I had a few niggles mainly with the fuel filter that kept getting blocked. The one reason I did not have another was due to the frequency the engine regenerated the DPF. Mine was doing lots of long journeys and was regening every 80 miles which I think is wrong and will affect the life of the engine over time(Izuzu told me this is correct!). With yours being a lease car you do not need to worry about this! I prefer the l200 to drive as it has more go and a much lower geared 1st gear which makes pulling away with big loads easier.

Don’t forget we only get the 1.9 engine not the test 3.0. In the Isuzu.

We have a 66 plate D-max,2.5 and it does the job,as said regens a lot.

Theres not a lot between them so if you have time have an extended test drive of your preferred ones.
