Our 1994 2cx has a Perkins engine. It has an engine build code AA, full code is AA 50429 U628185X
I believe this is a phaser 1004 engine and an early build type.
It is leaking water through the cylinder wall into the bore.
Ive been told it does not have a liner, it is machined block, though it looks to have a liner top and bottom. Anyone know for sure?
If it has a Liner, i believe it would be dry - so im a bit stumped where the water is coming from.

Anyone know of a engine (block, complete, short motor etc) or a suitable remedy?
Would it have to be an identical build? or are there alternatives?

thanks

They have dry liners i think, They are common for the timing case to rot and drop water in the sump I'd be surprised if its a block problem.

can see the water running through the liner into the bore.
not sure how this can be with a dry liner?
Did they change during the build stages?

word of warning dont buy a mf tractor engine the block is different

No, there are 2 common types blocks, industrial and a stressed Agri block/sump.
JCB and Manitou use both types.

The industrial one has a bolt on bell housing and an aluminium or sometimes a tin sump. where the agri block has the bell housing cast as part of the block and with a heavy cast sump.

I am trying to figure out what caused the problem...
worn mountings causing vibration?
Overheating???
If coolant is leaking into cylinder has it caused other damage like bent conrod ?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
