What happened? I thought they never broke down! (Sorry could not resist)

I believe that American dude (truck and tractor repair?) has done rebuild of r series due to turbo failure making itS way into engine 🤔

try the dealer I find my jd dear fairly reasonable and generally very helpful

There’s 3 pistons and liners damaged and worn the dealer wants big money for them can’t seem to find anything but main dealer online surely there’s an after market alternative at this stage it’s a 7 year old tractor

None of my business but would you not be inclined to draw a deep breath and buy the genuine ones?

It’s a relatively young tractor and personally speaking once fixed I wouldn’t want to be in there again.

It is a lot more than that. On older models it is 140€ vs 300€ on the piston set. And then x4 or x6 and difference is huge.
Better he deletes EGR for price difference.

Problem is a cowboy mapped it before I got it and it won’t show up fault codes now we had problem few weeks ago thought it was turbo but was an injector problem so that’s the route of my problem dealer wants €260+vat per piston and liner set

Did you know it was mapped when you got it?

I see it becoming a big problem as more 'second owners' start to have problems.

Ya I knew it was done. I’ve all my jds mapped and never had trouble but then again I’ve 5000hrs put on it in two years so probably due some form of breakdown

£3600 for an engine overhaul kit plus a few bolts, pull the block out and go right through it, job sorted 👍. Less than a pound an hour over 5k hours.
Would basically be a new engine if done properly and still be a dam site cheaper than the first payment on swapping for a new or even used machine!

I am not familiar with mapping , surely
Faults would have happened long before 5000 hours
Is cooling system ok ?
Is there dust or blockage in radiator core.... I mean external not internal
Is fan blade clean?
Does it have viscous coupling
