Toying with the idea of bringing another tractor onto the farm for various reasons, but wondering if there are any notable differences in reliability, power availability, and general usability between the two above
Will be second hand and low hours and about 5/6years old with a simple transmission,I.e.power quad or auto quad for ease of use for temp tractor drivers.

Any observations will be appreciated S&P

What's the difference in price?
Sold well here, particularly smaller ones but until recently they were tier 2 engines (I think) so no DEF was a big reason. Don't think that was ever the case in the UK?

Not sure why you'd go R if there was a big price difference, can't see 50k making much difference day to day.

Don't quote me on this but check oil flow and lift capacity the M series they always used to be less .
We had a 120m on demo and it went well only gripe for us was the lack of neutral I the left hand shuttle now for loader work

The R will have the ability to run the sophisticated machines that need plugging into the tractor, so they work together, and in a few years time will be more up to date.

They are both John Deere's so are both the finest examples of farm machinery anyone could buy and are at least 18% better than the competition, according to the independent research laboratories in Waterloo, Iowa

I would say it depends just what age of tractor you were looking at the very latest M’s have come on a long way, the older M’s still leave a bit to be desired. In my opinion.

What do you plan on using it for?

As said above I think most 155Rs will have a larger hydraulic pump compared to the M equivalent and you also get intelligent power management on the R which boosts up to 194HP on the R in PTO and transport applications. Not sure if the M has a boost or not.

If you are looking used then I wouldn't discount an R with Autopower, very very simple tractor to drive and seem to be as reliable as autoquad these days. Direct drive is the transmission to avoid I understand.
