John Deere 3050 Link Arms

Hi there,

We have recently acquired a JD 3050 with high lift, all is great however the link arm movement is super sensitive. If you move the raise/lower lever by about 10mm the arms will move far more than they should. We have tried moving the draft control but that seems to just change which point they move, ie starting at 7 on the lever rather than 3 or 4. We have fiddled around adjusting the linkages but to no avail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, after looking through lots of other threads about this era of JD (as we already have a 2040s) we had hoped that someone will have an idea as to what the issue could be!

Thanks
Alex

Now Then..
You should have the draft control set a Min, unless you're ploughing.
I wouldn't adjust the linkages too much as there are settings inside the tractor which should be set correctly, then the linkages fit on and should line up with the levers in the cab..

This might need fixing inside the tractor,,,,,

Thank you for replying, we had feared it was an internal issue… is this a cab off job? Also is there anyway of checking to see if that’s the issue before taking it apart? Thanks again

Yes, one can adjust most of it from outside. You'll need a technical manual.
However, in my experience they never need such adjustment.
If the Min - Max lever is moved when the arms are raised with weight on the linkage can become bent. Or, if someone has previously been in there, the linkage may not be positioned on the 'blade' correctly.
So, without knowing the tractors history, who knows.
Does everything else work correctly, Hi-Lo, PTO, MFWD, Hydraulic performance etc??.
I'd take the cab off its a project or a keeper, but one needs an understanding of the thing to do that..

Hi, thank you for replying… I assume someone has been in there before, with draft control set to min the arms won’t go down fully so currently have it set about half way and have got used to using as is although it would be nice to get sorted. Yes all hydraulics work great with no juddering etc, the only thing is the steering feels slightly heavy compared to 2040s but we have put this down to it being a larger tractor… if it does need the cab off we will probably do this over winter when we have more time

The front axle and tyre size can make a difference to the steering. There are different orbitrol units too as the metering pump part has to be matched to the steering ram to give the required turns lock to lock..

hi

I was wondering what's the best website to find lifting arms for my 3050 or will a 6000 series lift arm fit on
