Hi
I have been involved with agricultural machines most of my life and come across many different problems my latest problem is that we did a complete hydraulic oil and filter change and the machine is now throwing the oil out of the tank filler whenever the hydraulics are used mainly it seems to be the boom down action but that could be just because it used the most lol i know the tank was not overfilled or any daft like that and even when the machine is struggling because its short of oil it still throws more out. and wondered if anyone had any ideas what the problem could be.
thanks for any thoughts suggestion in advance.

The above is from another forum, I thought perhaps someone on here might have an idea for the guy. Cavitation from somewhere?

Don't know if the setup is similar or not but the pivot steer matbro has a stud that needs to be slackened with an allen key. Think it might be two tanks or at least two compartments in a tank. AFAIK the pump will draw from one and return to the other and you can hear the oil gurgling between the tanks when the studs removed and should be removed and let settle again before dipping the tank.
If it's similar oil might be returning to the full tank.

Thanks for the reply, I will forward.

Don't bother, it's a single tank on 3200.

If level is correct after it's been stood and settled then it can only be one thing and that's cavitation so it's sucking air either on the suction pipe to pump or the pump shaft seals.
Or failing that it's doing a similar trick to manitous do and dumping excess return oil to tank where it shouldn't be which doesn't use a dip tube in tank to return oil below the level (under normal circumstances a return like that would only have the odd dribble back to tank not a constant flow) this is normally caused by a failed valve.

Or another thing manitous like to do is create a random leak on the steel dip tube welded in tank which then leaks oil above the level causing it to air rate and cavitation. Simple fix for this one since the pipes are welded in as part of the tank is wrap a bit of oil resistant rubber around the leak and clamp it with jubilee clip. Cause otherwise it's cut the tank open and replace steel pipe or buy a new tank!

That would only be a thing on the matbro TR200 as no other matbro had 2 hyd tanks.
Although I've never heard this before and changed hyd oil in a few but maybe not very early ones.
