Hi Folks
I’m pondering looking for one of the above machines. Any feedback would be great as to how they perform. Looking for a clean one in looked after condition. Although with the age of them now this may be impossible! Any suggestions greatly received

How big of a combine are you wanting. Mark Watson had a very very tidy 1055 12ft cut for £4950. Just looked sorry it's sold. Cheap at that

We have an 1177 H4 series 2. It has just under 4000 hours and has had an average life. It’s not tidy but not a complete wreck either. Every year I tinker a little with it and every year it goes to work and doesn’t really let me down. Not everything works but all the vital bits do. It doesn’t chuck much over the back and gives a good enough sample if driven and set right. They are in my opinion a good combine for their age and in the right going can still comfortably cut 25-30 acres a day not pushing on. Ours is more or less retired now but will stay as I can do our harvest in two or three easy days. If needed I would happily buy another.

That’s good to know thanks for the info. I’ll keep a look out. Also saw a CTS at Farol but know very little about them

1177 series 2 hydro 4 here cutting 700 acres, they are a good combine providing you maintain them. Know it backwards so anything you want to know just ask.
Do you think the one at Burden Bros would be worth a punt? Think there is damage to one end of the header but nothing major

Think they mainly came with 18',20' ft cut ,good combines but more elctrics on them. Also look for 1174, smaller version of 1177,but not many around.

From the website if I was looking for one then I would be off to see the one at burdens. To give me an idea of what money got you what condition. If you want to know what to look before you go to see it then just shout!

I have an 1174 which is the same as the 1177, except for the engine, the 74 has the European 3650 tractor and the 77 has the American 4055 engine. A marvel of machine, easy and relatively cheap to repair. JD parts are new, used and second brand. Its weak part is the silent-blocks of the screen box, but if you are attentive you should not have problems. Well regulated does not throw grain and you can buy it for a price that you will soon amortize.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
