Why not just put what you've heard as opposed to a question?Have a certain 2 large JD companies in the midlands merged very recently? Heard on the grapevine today.
The dealer can hold stock for demonstrators, new tractor stock and spares rather than JD having to keep stock themselves. Each dealer can have afford to have specialized trained employees. What is the advantage to john deere of fewer dealerships?

I have to question that. The dealer we used has gone through two rounds of amalgamation and the level of service remains very good. Ok the owners have changed but I am still dealing with very responsive local people. The upside is that Ripon farm services hold a huge amount more stock. But overall service levels will decline
Jd spoiling the ship for a hapenny of tar
What about farmers who are miles from the depot?I have to question that. The dealer we used has gone through two rounds of amalgamation and the level of service remains very good. What’s going to happen in somewhere like Ireland where I don’t imagine that all the JD dealers combined reach a turn over of €100 million, let alone that the total market for combines even reaches 30 units?
What about them? If the distance is a real obstacle to JD ownership presumably they will choose another brand. As time passes everyone expects/needs higher wages, it’s unrealistic to think all depots will stay open. What about farmers who are miles from the depot?
