Heard that Claas were going to get rid of the "non owned" dealers too - app there is a plan to only have ownded dealers in order to control the market
I’m intrigued with your statement considering it’s not that long since Oliver’s took over a link dealers area in southern harvesters , but please elaborate on your statement

I wouldn’t bother getting too intrigued
Take a look at @Essextractorboy ’s post list. Every single one is anti Claas of some sort or another.
Has nothing to do with JD reducing dealerships anyway:rolleyes:

I dont do a lot with HRN Tractors, and I dont run any JD gear so any change doesnt affect me directly.

I think the staff there today were in shock for want of a better word, and while there is no change in depots and staffing planned it must cause a bit of uncertainty so you have to feel for them.
Some of the guys there have been there a long time and would run green blood if you cut them open, and the thought of selling another brand must be totally alien.

They were saying that all their other franchises were still on board regardless of the main franchise changing.

So basically the top half of Scottish mainland is losing their JD dealer in one hit.:oops:

In the big picture, JD uk is being run by Americans who think its perfectly acceptable to travel 100s of miles to a dealer, all be it a big "mega" dealership.
It shows a serious lack of understanding of UK agriculture, and UK infrastructure to be told this.

Will be interesting to see how all this pans out, reckon it will be musical dealer chairs for a bit.

Any more news on what is happening in the south west ? Loads of rumours but nothing concrete, cant help thinking its only one from three in devon and cornwall.

Would hrn take on fergie.
Christ anything to replace phillips
Rumour is mf are not happy with Phillip's so could be a opportunity there. Either that or a different brand might look at them to get better coverage ie fendt. Or they maybe hrn see better value in an emerging brand like kabota that really could become a big player in the ag game. Time will tell. Personally I think fendt. Barclay could really stick it up jd by moving loyal jd owners on to fendt. Cant see jd drivers lowering themselves to massey. Just my opinion. Probably bull........

If the rumours are correct you need to think bigger ...... much bigger. It won’t be just an amalgamation of Devon and Cornwall.
All speculation you understand ;)

I wonder if the same person who worked for Case when the stuff up with Phillips happened now works for JD ?‍♂️

I have never had a problem with HRN as a dealer, any problems have been because JD have put out a product with issues they haven’t sorted at the design stage. This has cost them sales with other people moving brands. Then there’s the mental price of new tractors, that has to be hurting sales. Very unfortunate/stupid of JD to take this out on the dealers. Also thinking they will increase profits by reducing dealers is in my opinion likely to backfire big time.

John Deere are either too arrogant or too stupid to realise that we often buy a product because of the dealer, rather than buying the brand. Having watched what they did in Kent before I left I am not surprised but as ever very sad for the staff. Having said that FairPlay to the dealer for dropping them, it will serve them right if a few more big outfits do the same!

Well I'm not surprised fergie sick of phillips.
Thry are only interested in shifting Jcb, the storeman at Huntly is not liked. And folk are adamant that scot jcb are deliberately running Phillips into the ground
