Joining rolls of stock mesh together

Usually weave mesh together and get on ok but time consuming. Have been useing mild steel but moving on to HT and I’m wondering if the HT won’t be so easy to weave. What do other people do ?Would like to try those crimp sleeves but the proper crimping tool seams a lot of money, have seen much cheaper versions online for crimping wire rope joiners etc but didn’t know if they would be good enough?
Other peoples thoughts and experience would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Crimps are much better than gripples imho, slightly boring cost of the crimping tool but it is nearly as fast as the gripple.

Knotting HT is a nightmare of scratches and puncture wounds and, unless using a figure-of-eight knot or a bullwire knot (neither of which I can remember how to do out in the field and both need more wire to acheive) is much weaker and has a risk of the HT wire snapping.

Gripples will be the fastest and simplest way of doing it, and can also be used for tensioning & repairing.

Crimps are around a quarter of the price of Gripples and claim to give a stronger join than the HT wire itself. Crimp tool isn't cheap, but it's also the very best tool for removing staples and cutting wire IMO.

Knots are obviously cheapest, but a ballache.

I prefer working with HT, it is time consuming tying, but I just don't trust gripples.
If it helps winding you can make a tool to help, a piece of half inch flat bar, or even rod would do with a hole the size of the wire just in from the end to help lever it around.

I've used Gripples for years, usually to repair fences but as a bodger I always feel they are a bit of a bodge. Does anyone else fit Gripples in the furthest part of the fence, so any casual visitors will not see them ?

Get one of these yokes and tie them off . Being from the north , i wince at the cost of gripples, no matter how convenient they are . Do it right, and tie them off , it’s not tricky with this toy!

You claim to have a northern aversion to spending money, yet you've purchased that little gizmo?🤐

Gripples are prone to fail.

Use crimps, the tool isn't cheap but worth it

Got one the same, was a lot cheaper 2-3 years ago, but still cost effective. Useful on wire rope too.
